Paddlesports in general are safe, fun and engaging. They do wonders for our mental health and wellbeing and physical health. The sport can be be demanding too particularly if you are into competitions such as slalom, freestyle, marathon racing, WW Racing etc.
Paddlesports , by their very nature do inherantly carry risks. However as participants and providers of paddlesport training and courses it's important to know that most, if not all of these risks can be mitigated through gaining important safety skills and knowledge for the environmnet you regularily paddle.
The Paddlesport Safety and Rescue course is a great 1 day practical (wet) course that provides participants with the appropriate skills to deal with common issues experienced within a sheltered water environment (Lakes, Canals, ungraded rivers and estuaries).
I currently have two course planned over the weekend of the 13th & 14 April.
The course on the 13th April will take place at Tapton Lock on the Chesterfield Canal. This course is confirmed and will go ahead with a just a few remaining spaces, so if your interested please get in touch.
The planned course on the 14th April is scheduled to take place at Manvers Lake, Wash Upon Dearne. This course needs more participants for it to go ahead. This is a great venue and would suit individuals who are progressing with their paddling skills and working towards becoming an instructor, or just want the skills and knowledge to be safe out on the water.
If you are a member of a club and you and your club mates want to ensure you are all safe when out on club trips and can help out in the event someone gets into difficulty, discounts can be applied for group bookings of 5 people or more !
